PERSONAL PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (PPDP)

Supervisory management is an act of managing employees in an organization. It is a critical and important role that drives the operational and tactical performance of any organization. Management and supervision provides or facilitates the enabling role of transforming strategic direction and goals into activities, initiatives and work tasks. Fundamental to the manager and Supervisors is the ability to understand the directives that emanate from the strategic levels of the organization and not only communicate these to their direct reports but also create a climate of empowerment, development, coaching and knowledge transfer to their direct reports. Additionally, the manager and supervisor are responsible for managing the performance of the employees under their supervision to ensure that the unit or departmental goals are being achieved. The ability to successful manage employees is pegged to the ability of the manager supervisor to apply certain behavioral competencies and skill sets in order to effectively manage the people and the work processes in the organization.
