Performance Management is the systematic process by which an organization involves its employees, as individuals and members of a group, in improving organizational effectiveness in the accomplishment of organizational mission and goals. In this regard, leading the performance management process is one that involves an understanding of the entire performance management framework that includes the strategic context for performance in the organization and the performance expectations of the individual employee. Leading performance also entails an understanding of the enablers of performance; goal setting; understanding strategy; setting of relevant objectives; use of value adding metrics and KPI’s and the design parameters of the individual employee performance appraisal instrument.

Ermath Nicholas Harrington is an International Business Consultant, Founder and Managing Director of HARCON an institutional and capacity building consulting firm based in Trinidad and Tobago. He has diverse consulting experience in the public, civil society and private sector of the Caribbean and beyond. His consulting experience covers strategic planning, performance management, project management, process re-engineering and research. This is augmented by his formal training at the Master’s Level in International Relations. He is a specialist in the Balanced Scorecard Strategic Performance Management Framework.
